🌎 🌍 🌏This week I talk to Mark Mortimer who has travelled the world and operated in 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 including the 𝑺𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 and 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆.
🎯🎯🎯 In the 1990s Mark was a 𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒓 and went through 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑹𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒚 where he learnt about leadership and a high-performance culture.
🚣🚣🚣 In 1997 Mark took part in the 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 "𝑨𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑹𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒂𝒄𝒆" - a 3000-mile ocean rowing race from the Canary Islands to the West Indies. Mark and his rowing partner completed this race in 75 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔. At the time "𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏"!
🎓🎓🎓 In early 2000 Mark then moved into the 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 and has spent 20 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 working at five different schools including being 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 of two.
💡💡💡 Listen to Mark talk about his "𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔" and "thoughts" which have shaped his life including:
🔥🔥🔥 "𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒏𝒊𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑰𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅"
💯💯💯 "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓"
👆👆👆 "𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑼𝒑"
😬😬😬 "𝑵𝒐 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒚"
📢📢📢 "𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕"
😀😀😀 Mark encourages listeners to ask themselves "𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖?", a question he often asks the students he works with.
